Thank you for making a difference in the life of a child.
Kansas Waiting Child Program
Every child has a purpose. There are no children who deserve anything less than a forever family. Through Shiloh we will explore every option available and with God’s guidance and for His glory we will make a difference in the lives of Kansas children in need of a family.

Shiloh Adoptions is working in cooperation with local state-contracted child placement agencies and district courts in order to be able to provide them an alternative for seeking forever homes for children whose parents' parental rights have been terminated. All too many times families are not found for these precious children and it is our hope that every child available for adoption in Kansas will know the love and joy of a forever family.

*Please note Shiloh Adoptions in no way intends to imply the district courts have any obligation to assist the agency in finding children for prospective adoptive families. Whether the Judge assigned to a specific case chooses to place a child with a family who has contracted with Shiloh Adoptions is purely discretionary with the Court.

Children Available
Children of all ages may become available through this program. Some children have special needs. All children were originally removed from the home as a result of abuse or neglect. Prospective adoptive parents should be prepared to work through any emotional or mental health concerns the child may have. The social work staff at Shiloh is available to assist families with any concerns they may have and to discuss treatment options if necessary for a child or family.

Requirements for Adoptive Parents
  • Couples and singles may adopt
  • Families with children already in the home may adopt.
  • Adoptive parents must be at least 25 years of age, no upper age restrictions. Younger parents may be considered on a case by case basis.
Pre-Placement Requirements
Depending on whether the referral is made by the Judge overseeing the child in need of care case or the state contracting agency a family may be required to attend a M.A.P.P. training course. This course will be available through Shiloh. All families are required to attend the Different But Equal class also available through Shiloh. If a direct placement is made by the Judge overseeing the child in need of care case, the M.A.P.P. course may not be required.

Adoption Expenses
  • Application fee: $200 (non-refundable)
  • Shiloh Service Fee: $5,500 (includes home study fee). With the exception of the $1,200 home study fee, the Shiloh Service Fee is not due until a consent is obtained for a specific child either directly from the Judge or from the Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services.
Additional Expenses
The following expenses will vary by state. We have included some estimates for you which include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Attorney fee for finalizing the adoption. $1,000 (varies by attorney)
  • Post placement reports-minimum of 3 completed at 1 month, 6 month and 12 months per Kansas regulations set forth by KDHE $200 (varies by state)
  • Estimated TOTAL adoption expenses for a Kansas Waiting Child Adoption including all adoption fees: $6,100 USD
